I feel that the Addicts as is, seems to work, for the purpose that it was constructed for in the first place.
it MAY be felt that things have changed since then, but I feel that there are still insufficient reasons to change anything, and [therefore] sufficient reasons to leave it as is ......

What I'd REALLY like is for the Addicts title and the Senior title to be reversed ..............
as, for some perverse reason. I think 'Anti-Online Addict' is WAY more :cool: than Senior Member ..............

so that at 275 posts, you get the title 'Senior'
THEN, at 400 posts you can claim the title ADDICT

I guess it really depends on when we want to disclose all the secrets and mysteries of the Addicts Forum to them and if they are really ready to take upon themselves the added burdens. Can we trust them to safeguard the kingdom before we have trained them up in the ways of an Addict? Do we allow such an apprentice possession of a decoder ring? These questions and others must be answered before we allow them entrance. The previous suggestions do deserve merit.

Or just make it 11 dots required. Period. I vote for that. There are several good people that made it to 11 before they hit "addict" status, and it's based on merit more than a simple number of posts.

11 dots sounds the nicest suggestion for accessing the Addicts, since there might be some members who attained 275 posts without having even three dots, while some really great members can't access it even though they have 11 dots and great deal of knowledge ... I guess Zencoder and Sec-ware achieved the full set before they post 150 posts, sounds really unfair.

Changing the number of posts required for Addicts access is easy. Changing the access method to APs instead of posts is not easy, requires lots of code changes. I don't have an opinion either way about how it should be done; I'm just filling you guys in on the technical perspective.

There's nothing in addicts... Except maybe like 10 threads about Katja and that's like the most active addicts has been in ages. Is anyone gonne delete those threads before Katja can read them or doesn't anyone care... Ooh, did I just break an addicts membership rule there? I swear I heard something snap. ;)

there should be a forum at each step of the way I think, so that for each level there is a closed forum, this will give more control...also, I like the idea of having a forum for seniors and titled seniors etc...

I am probably wrong, but I always had the impression that "addicts" was to allow members to discuss things outside of the view of guests and very new members who might be skiddies?

This might be either purely site related so of no interest, or potentially sensitive stuff about exploits and vulnerabilities.

I never thought it such a big deal, to be quite honest, and I don't see what changing things will achieve. I think that right now we have some rather more pressing site (security) issues?
