This may be a newbie question and I pretty much am one but I was wondering if you could password protect a folder on your computer. My os is windows 98. Thanks for the help in advance.

Basically, it comes down to this, since you're running Windows 98, you'll need a third-party tool to password protect a folder. I had the same requirement as u had and had downloaded MAXCRYPT at this link http://www.webattack.com/freeware/security/fwencrypt.shtml ; I tried it and it really does the job. I have been using it for almost 2 years and have had no problems. As for Noia, I know that PGP FW works on XP Professional and 2000 just fine.
