I've seen a number of issues on 64-bit machines, usually drivers. And
I do believe Adobe installs virtual drivers.

    Are you running 64-bit Vista?

    Well !!!

my laptop is not a 64bit its 32 bit so bit problem is out of case earlier i had thought so but its not as it is vista home premium without a high level graphic card in it

    ....

recently i downloaded the whole thing again and used it in my XP box and it was going on very fine and i also worked in adobe photoshop CS3

and i took the same file to my laptop vista base and tried to extract it there
after a while of processing it gave a error
"adobe has come across a error while extracting please download it again and try again"

now its not extracting also (the newly downloaded file from www.adobe.com)

    Hi there KK,

Have you tried extracting it to a CD/DVD on your XP box then try to install on the Vista box from the CD/DVD? It might work.

I have extracted those files to the Flash Drive and tried to run that setup.exe on the laptop but i got the same result

and that does not leave a single log file also

i tried in safe mode also but it does not work any ways

" What would be the problem because adobe photoshop is compactible with any computer of higher configuration"

and my laptop is quit workable for adobe photoshop

    Hi KK,

Seems that it is quite a common problem with more than one cause. Please look at this:

    Hi nihil,

well thx for this valuable links

but unfortunately both the tricks have failed.

and there is still no solution to have it installed...

can i write a email to Microsoft and Adobe regarding this issue?
is any other way i can get it installed...

attached the screenshots of the error report while extracting

and other one is the screenshot of the small window showing the silent installation window which opens for 2-3 sec and closes quitely..

    Hi KK,

Sorry to hear that you still have a problem. One thing occurred to me: have you installed Vista SP1?

    1. If you have, did it install without any error messages?
    2. If you haven't then you might try doing so and then try to install CS3 again.

To be honest with you, it doesn't look like a Windows problem to me. If it were I would expect you to get some sort of message in your applications or system logs. Try downloading and running this. Look for any hotfixes that have a red "X" next to them.

It looks as if Windows doesn't even see that there is a problem?

If I were you I would contact Adobe as they are the ones who make money out of the application.

Yes Agreed its a adobe problem not a Microsoft problem as i had problem before also in installing other programs but for every other problem it does give a error report but only for this very applications it does not prompt any error !!!!

Sorry to hear that you still have a problem. One thing occurred to me: have you installed Vista SP1?
I have vista sp1 installed and it didnt gave a single error while installing.

any ways i would rather try to contact adobe for this very error.

    before finally giving up...
