Printer Issues with XP Pro

Hi,

At work, everyone has printers automatically showing up on their operating system. These are shared printers from other workstations and indicate this under the name of the printer. At first I thought people were sharing their printers, but then I found out they weren't. Does anyone know why this automatically happens.

Says AUTO "name of the printer"
"name of the workstation"

I'm wondering if this has to do with them running in a workgroup. If so, is there anyway I can disable this?

You didn't supply an OS in your question, but in case it is XP then I think THIS might answer your question.
