CNN posted this earlier. Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, and Philips have joined together to create standards for personal electronics that will recognize different DRM systems. So if you buy music from Sony Connect, you could play it on a Samsung portable. The first products are due this summer.

Personally, I'll continue to listen to plain old MP3's. I'm just glad I didn't see Apple's name in there...I don't think they're involved, anyway.
