This is the first edition that I've written. I'm not even sure if it's the first actual AO mailing list and I'm sure it's not but it's the first one I've conducted with the help of other security companies and induviduals. I've recently made a departure from AO and made quite a fool of my self but none the less, I decided to come back to the discussion board. You knoe i luv u guyz. ;)
Especially Negative and Conf1rmedK1ll. Negative is the one that inspired me to write this post and provide this newsletter. Conf1rmedK1ll made me realise that it would be foolish to only take part in one security discussion group.
I've attached the newsletter to this post. But here's what is discussed in this issue.
Intro
Ports, scaning, detection, and techniques
Building a Security Toolkit
Social Engineering
Hacking
Exploits
Conclusion

Like I said in the newsletter, if you don't like it, then don't read it. write your own newsletter... and further more, it's none of your concern. Like negative said, everyone is entitled to a second chance. If you would like to help write the second editon, feel free to contribute to it.

I'm sick of this crap, every day, flaming, bitchin, moanin, back-stabbing, this isnt real, its a virtual world, we can't see each other, we cant fight, we dont work together, we flame those who come before looking for help, everyone who was here when I joined is gone except for Negative and MsMittens, perhaps more I dont remember, even rioter is gone!
Jesus whats the point, shouldnt let you effect me but I do, you get to me fair play, you happy, here become King of Antionline you vain bitch, its what you want, reply to this, flame me, cut me up I dont care, just do me one favour, after this post pretend I dont exist, Ennis is dead, gone out of the whole system.
Dont speak, remember, wonder or anything, dead in your mind, ok thats all I ask.
To all those I respect Im sorry for backing out but Ive had one too many attacks from these kinda people and its gone to far.
You know who you are.

Antionline is supposed to be a security site, yes but we can have other posts, General Chit Chat is allowed to be about anything so people please stop the flaming.
Let the hotmail questions drop instead of replying with flames and keeping the thread afloat.

Cut-N-Paste.. I can call you Cut-N-Paste can't I??
I supported the idea of a mailing list/newsletter.. I believe it would be a valuable addition to the site.. Now, I briefly read over your newsletter, and one thing struck me... Have you ever heard of formatting??? Y'know, page breaks, table of contents.. all those kinda things which make it easier to read and find the information your after...
Now, I understand that you were trying to be helpful.. But you have really gone at it the wrong way... Rather than Cut-N-Pasting whole slabs of information, you really should write a brief intro, and then provide a link to the page your grabbing the information from... that way, your making it easy to read, and also not depriving other sites of their deserved traffic by stealing their work...
And admitting that you copied the sections from SANS, doesn't make it ok... Did you actually ask SANS if you could use the text you borrowed?? Did you check that you weren't violating any copyrights?? I mean, your posting it stating that its AO's Newsletter... if you haven't checked this, and have violated copyright, you could get AO into trouble...
Also, did you get JP's permission before writing this? In general, people/organisations do not like it when you write something under their guise, without their permission.. it can get them into a lot of trouble, and facilitate a lot of false images....
I'd be more than happy to help with further newsletters, providing that these issues and certain others are resolved...

I thought that the info posted was probably useful to those who have limited experience of this. But the final comments were well out of order - why resort to 4 letter words when a reasoned argument would be better?
MsMittens
December 9th, 2001, 03:34 PM
I think that Ennis reached a frustration point. As you noticed from Ennis' information he has been through many threads and has posted many replies. Perhaps what we need is a tutorial on how to ask questions or get input from others.
Thing like be clear in what you are asking; explain as much detail as possible; read first before asking (perhaps that should be first). If you do get flamed or get 4-letter words thrown at you, step back for a few minutes, hours, days and then come back. Reponding that way only brings you down to the level of the hurler. Concise, direct arguments or statements have a lot more power (as does humour when spun by Negative) than a stream of obscenities and non-sensical threats.
Not everything on this board needs to be a flame war. There is a lot of potential here that could help but many of the posts that ask valid questions or present interesting security/hacking ideas are being lost in the "clutter" of garbage.
Just some thoughts.
Rewandythal
December 9th, 2001, 04:11 PM
Agreed!
Arguing in 4 letter words never got anyone anywhere. An argument is only wortkwhile if both sides come out of it with the correct information... and a load of obscenities doesn't help that!!!

:Sigh: Well my intentions were'nt to make Ennis so frustrated that he leaves the AO community. I do appologize. After reading what I wrote... I think I can safely say that I was "out of line" by makeing that last statement. I knoe that Ennis and I have had harsh werds in the past but my intentions weren't intended to make this valued Icon of the AO community leave. And Mr. Hamlet, it's a pleasure to meat you... yeah right. I'm not here to take this post, these forms, and this site seriously. Lighten up. Take a 40 oz. go sit on the couch, watch South Park, and chill out.
Rewandythal said it best. "Arguing in 4 letter words never got anyone anywhere. Geez, i really knoe how to stick my foot in my mouth don't i ? Any who, the next issue will be more formal. I will ask the author's permission before useing their information and again, feel free to contribute to this on growing "newsletter"... if all you can do is bitch about it, write your own "tut", newsletter, or whatever. BTW, what topics would everyone like to see included in the next issue?

I love people that throw around the word "ignorance". If anything Remote Access, you are the ignorant one for your vapid brain's usage of the word ignorant. After that whole long speech of yours, you turn around and do the same thing all over again! HYPOCRISY ALERT. You are telling others to 'chill out' and then you retort with the same consistant banter. How can you possibly claim us all to have been 'script kiddies' at one point or another? Has it dawned on you that maybe some have had legitimate interest in computers right from day 1? And to tell Noble Hamlet to 'start thinking' when clearly he has presented a well thought out argument. What the hell is an L? The 40oz idea however is a good one, maybe in a drunken state, Noble Hamlet will be able to interact at your level.

I love it how people argue about flaming by flaming someone.
Person A > how do I xxx
Person B > your stupid Person A
Person C > no, your stupid Person B
Person B > I am not stuid, you are because you flamed me person C
Person A > Don't flame me, you suck Person B
Person D > Why not just stop posting to this topic and let it drop, although I am going to post her to say stop posting.
Person E > Nice post person A
Person C > Person A sucks, but I don't really know why.
etc. etc. etc.
I have noticed this in just about every thread that I have actually taken the time to read, not that I have actually read that many. But hey, I suck because I only have a 56k modem and I am a lamer and whatever else. Figured I would say it before someone else did.

I haven't recieved a responce from a majority of the AO community, for a number of reasons, but I am still courious as to what everyone would like to see included in the next issue.
I think that the entire AO community has contributed something important, resourceful, or informative... Therefore i intend to use, with the conscent/authority of the rightful author(s), information that has been previously posted on various subjects. I will even write about a few things that I m a y be able contribute to the AO community...
But what is there to say that hasn't already been said???
E V E R Y question someone has asked has already been answered or asked in a previous post or in a tutorial, article, newsletter, or some other source of information...
So is there any thing truely original left to post? Of course there is. Write about personal experience. The best experience you can gain is from "Trial and Error." Also known as, "Hands on experience."
Not everyone has read everything or experienced it all. Everyone must have a question about something, even if it's not security or computer related. (That's why there is the general chat forms.)
For those that do know everything (or at least think they do), you are an inspiration. I would enjoy being a teacher/mentor... But there's a slight problem. In order to teach something, you have to know what you are teaching. Through and through, balls to the wall.
Why? How? Where? What? What if...? etc.
Because of those very questions right there. There will always be that individual out there that either dosen't know or yearns to know the answer. A seeker of knowledge. The true source of intelligent life on this planet... A young hacker thirsting for knowledge and fueled by those questions, eagerly awaiting for a responce, the answer, the truth. What lies behind the mystery? What is the answer? How do I...? How did you...? Where is...? Is it possable to...? What are...?
There aren't stupid questions, but there are stupid people.

You get no response because they dont like you, simple as that. Next time instead of 'copying' a newsletter simply send them a link, its easier than putting no effort in and trying to look good only for everyone to realise you are a shambolic imbecil.
